Your Google Business Profile is selling harder than your website

For any business with a physical catchment, the profile is often where the decision actually gets made. Most are set up once and never touched again.

Where the decision happens

For local intent the map pack sits above everything. Many people compare two or three profiles, read a handful of reviews and call, without ever visiting a website. The profile is the shop window and the website is the stockroom.

What is usually neglected

Categories chosen carelessly at setup, which quietly determine which searches you appear in at all. Hours that are wrong on the days that matter. No recent photographs. Services not listed. And reviews that nobody asks for and nobody answers.

Reviews are a process, not luck

Businesses with a steady flow of recent reviews are not lucky. They ask, at the moment the customer is most pleased, and they make it take ten seconds. That is an operational change rather than a marketing one, which is why it usually never happens.

What this means for you

If you serve a catchment and you have not opened your profile in six months, that is likely a larger opportunity than your ad account.

What we are doing about it

We treat the profile as a primary channel: categories and services rebuilt properly, review generation built into the customer journey, and map pack visibility tracked for the handful of queries that actually matter.

I check these against the original source before publishing, and I will send you the source if you want to see it. I do not quote a number I have not read myself.

Tell us where you are trying to get to.

Bring the two year picture, not this quarter's fire. You get a straight view on what has to happen first, and roughly what it costs.
